Reversible ratchet effects in a narrow superconducting ring

چکیده
We study the ratchet effect in a narrow pinning-free superconductive ring based on time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau (TDGL) equations. Voltage responses to external dc an ac currents at various magnetic fields are studied. Due asymmetric barriers for flux penetration and exit ring-shaped superconductor, critical current above which flux-flow state is reached, as well transition normal state, different two directions of applied current. These effects cooperatively cause signal reversal high fields, has not been reported date system. The found here larger than those induced by pinning potentials. Our results also demonstrate feasibility using mesoscopic superconductors employ superconducting diode versatile devices.

Fluxon ratchet potentials in superconducting circuits
A fluxon in a Josephson-junction parallel array behaves like a single particle in a periodic pinning potential. Different configurations of critical currents and cell areas result in different profiles for the fluxon potential. We analyze the minimal conditions to achieve an effective potential in which mirror symmetry is absent, namely a fluxon ratchet potential. Following one of the configura...
متن کاملDecoherence in a superconducting ring
A superconducting ring has different sectors of states corresponding to different values of the trapped magnetic flux; this multitude of states can be used for quantum information storage. If a current supporting a nonzero flux is set up in the ring, fluctuations of electromagnetic field will be able to “detect” that current and thus cause a loss of quantum coherence. We estimate the decoherenc...
متن کاملParity Effect in a mesoscopic superconducting ring
– We study a mesoscopic superconducting ring threaded by a magnetic flux when the single particle level spacing is not negligible. It is shown that, for a superconducting ring with even parity, the behavior of persistent current is equivalent to what is expected in a bulk superconducting ring. On the other hand, we find that a ring with odd parity shows anomalous behavior such as fluxoid quanti...
متن کاملSuperconducting current in narrow proximity wires
The critical supercurrent in proximty-wires shows a surprising temperature dependence in the experiment [1]. This observation has lead to speculation whether there are new e ects involved and/or the usual criterion for the dirty limit is not valid for this type of systems. We propose a simple SNS-model for this system and show analytically, that this unexpected scaling is already contained in a...
متن کاملDesign and Fabrication of a Narrow-bandwidth Micromechanical Ring Filter using a Novel Process in UV-LIGA Technology
This paper presents the design and a new low-cost process for fabrication of a second-order micromechanical filter using UV-LIGA technology. The micromechanical filter consists of two identical bulk-mode ring resonators, mechanically coupled by a flexural-mode beam. A new lumped modeling approach is presented for the bulk-mode ring resonators and filter. The validity of the analytical derivatio...
